Artcurial opened the year with the first auction sale of Contemporary Urban Art, on January 22, with total sales over one million. After "Paint BAL: mailboxes for Keith Haring," L'Adresse musée de la Poste offers for the second time, a group exhibition of artists from Street Art movement with: Banksy, C215, Dran, Invader, L'Atlas , Ludo, Miss.Tic, Rero, Shepard Fairey, Swoon and Vhils.

The choice of the curator, Céline Neveux, has focused on the movement that is closer to urban contemporary art than Graffiti, showing its main protagonists European and French. The exhibition begins with a brief history of the movement in France with artists such as Ernest Pignon-Ernest and Gerard Zlotykamien who never have made Graffiti and Blek Le Rat, Jef Aerosol and Jérôme Mesnager who unlike Americans pioneers are not from the hip hop culture. Giving to six of them a free creative space, they showcase both their intervention work in situ and their works called "commercial" exhibited and sold by art galleries. This confrontation highlights the aesthetic and plastic work of artists of this movement, far from simple vandalism.

"Art Los Angeles Contemporary", now in its fourth year, is the International Contemporary Art fair of the West Coast, held January 24–27, 2013.

ALAC returns to the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, a known arts venue with 40,000 square feet of exhibition space and soaring 40 foot ceilings. The fair presents 70 top international blue chip and emerging galleries from around the world, with a strong focus on Los Angeles galleries. Participants present some of the most dynamic recent works from their roster of represented artists, offering an informed cross section of what is happening now in contemporary art making. The fair provides a sophisticated yet accessible environment for art collectors, curators, and patrons of the arts alike to enjoy.

In addition, the fair hosts a comprehensive programming series, including world class artist talks, museum curator led panel discussions, and film screening and performance series. Special events are staged on site at the art fair as well as throughout the city in satellite locations.
