GERHARD RICHTER - Panorama
Coup de coeur de l'Art Concierge3
June 06 / September 26 2012 - Centre Pompidou
The exhibition panoramic of Gerhard Richter at the Centre Pompidou is the major event of the summer. This is the largest retrospective of the German artist, a major figure in contemporary painting, now aged 80. A selection of 150 works of astonishing diversity is put into perspective thanks to a playful and themed scenography.
From pictures-paintings of the 60s to the latest digital abstractions, through his romantic landscapes and portraits blur haloed, we are witnessing a true festival of colors in a perpetual back and forth movement between figuration and abstraction.
In the center of "Panorama", a new light is given to lesser-known series: some gray monochrome, mirrors and work made from glass panels. This central place allows a rereading of Richter's work through the angle of visual processing, duplication and reflections games.
This retrospective also reveals the intimacy of the painter with a gallery of portraits composed of his relatives and a rare self-portrait. This tribute to Gerhard Richter is obviously impossible to miss!
