For art lovers, collectors and professionals in contemporary art, Art Basel is one of the major international art fairs should not be missed and the 2012 edition promises to be rich! As every year, you will find established galleries and artists but also you can discover the new emerging scene.
Art Basel invests the beautiful city of Basel by offering an "Art Parcours" which will be presented artworks and performance in situ in historical places of the city, near St. Johann, with internationally renowned artists such as Rodney Graham, Aleksandra Mir, Pedro Reyes and Dieter Roth.
Wednesday, June 13, from 8 pm to midnight for "Art Night Parcours", Kathryn Andrews, American artist, will perform throughout the evening.
For lovers of large-scale works or even monumental, sector "Art Unlimited" is for you. This space of 17,000 sqm, curated by Gianni Jetzer (Director of Swiss Institute of NY) is available for 62 oversized projects, including Chris Burden, Douglas Gordon, Robert Irwin, Hamish Fulton, Robert Morris or Ugo Rondinone.
I promised discoveries, and it is in the "Art Statements" as you make them! Dedicated to solo exhibitions of 25 artists from 19 different countries. And if you still want more novelty, do not hesitate to go to the parallel fair VOLTA 8 which gives a chance to new galleries and emerging artists such Baptiste Debombourg [Stand B 12.5, the Krupic Kersting Gallery (Cologne)] here is a short video showing his work.
